SYNOPSIS
Mickey Knox and Mallory Wilson are not your typical lovers: after killing Mallory's abusive father, they embark on a road trip where, every time they stop somewhere, they kill almost everyone around them. However, they always leave one person alive at each shooting to tell the story, and soon become a media sensation thanks to sensationalist coverage.
CINDIE SAYS:
Natural Born Killers, directed by Oliver Stone, remains one of the most controversial and incendiary films of the 1990s. Released in 1994, the film was a hyper-stylized, violent commentary on the media’s obsession with criminals and its role in glamorizing violence. The film, written by Quentin Tarantino (although his original script underwent substantial rewrites), tells the story of Mickey and Mallory Knox, a pair of lovers-turned-serial-killers who embark on a murder spree across America, all while becoming media darlings. Stone’s direction, coupled with its daring narrative and psychedelic visuals, ensures Natural Born Killers is not just a film, but a cultural artifact that reflects the anxieties and fascinations of its time.
