She seems to find her balance in satisfying the desires of her clients, but the affair takes a bad turn when Marcel, a regular delinquent in the house, falls in love with Séverine...

CINDIE SAYS:

Belle de Jour (1967), directed by Luis Buñuel, remains one of cinema’s most fascinating and provocative films, blending surrealism with sharp social commentary. For film lovers, this film is a treasure trove of stylistic brilliance, thematic depth, and behind-the-scenes intrigue. It represents Buñuel’s unique vision and showcases a career-defining performance by Catherine Deneuve whose portrayal of Séverine is one of the most iconic in her career. At just 24 years old, she embodied a character that is a paradox of coldness and desire, restraint and transgression.
