SYNOPSIS

Earth has been conquered by robots from a distant galaxy, the survivors are confined to their homes and have to wear electronic implants, risking incineration by robot sentries if they venture outside. In Robot-occupied Britain, city centres are devastated and our gang of teenagers live in a seaside town constantly under threat from Robots. Intimidating sentries patrol the streets, snipers are ruthless killing machines. The Mediator is deceptively childlike but disconcertingly coercive. The robot base is the Cube, a huge mothership that dominates the skyline.

CINDIE SAYS:

"Jon Wright's "Robot Overlords" (2014) offers a fresh and engaging take on the sci-fi genre, blending elements of family adventure with dystopian themes. This British film, set in a world where humanity has been conquered by alien robots skilfully combines sci-fi, adventure, and family drama, making it accessible to a broad audience. It balances the thrill of rebellion against alien oppressors with the personal stories of its young protagonists, providing both excitement and emotional depth.

Despite a modest budget compared to Hollywood blockbusters, Robot Overlords impresses with its practical effects and visual design. Wright employs creative storytelling techniques and inventive cinematography to make the most of the film's budget. While Robot Overlords received mixed reviews upon release, it has since developed a cult following. Fans appreciate its blend of adventure, heartfelt moments, and nostalgic nods to classic sci-fi.

Robot Overlords is a captivating and enjoyable watch that deserves recognition."
