In front of the cameras and in public, famous Hollywood actress Honey Whitlock, a product of the studio system, is as sweet as her name. Behind the scenes, she's demanding and controlling, which makes life a nightmare for anyone who has to deal with her, especially her intimidating assistant, Libby. She and her entourage are in Baltimore, what is shaping up to be the Hollywood of the East, for the premiere of her latest film. The premiere is hijacked by a group of guerrilla independent filmmakers, led by director Cecil B. DeMented, who want to make a statement against the Hollywood studio system and the bad films they produce. Cecil and his gang kidnap Honey in the process.

Loosely based on the 1974 kidnapping of Patricia Hearst, who has a cameo role, John Waters' "Cecil B. Demented" (2000) is a darkly comedic and wildly anarchic film that skewers the Hollywood film industry with Waters’ trademark subversive style.

Known for pushing boundaries and challenging norms, Waters delivers a satirical love letter to guerrilla filmmaking and outsider art.

The cast of "Cecil B. Demented" is a mix of established actors and quirky talents. Stephen Dorff brings intensity and charisma to the titular role, while the supporting cast includes Alicia Witt, Adrian Grenier, and a young Michael Shannon. Each actor embraces the film’s over-the-top energy, contributing to its chaotic charm.
